Club training is open to all existing members and even people looking for a sport to play in 2011. Pre season training will blow out the cobwebs and help you lose any extra holiday KG’s. Sessions are traditionally broken into two parts; cardio work and some stick work. All speeds and skill levels are catered for. And we’ll finish with a game to use up any energy that is left.

You’ve been warned.

2010 Hockey NSW Coach of the Year

This man has a long and distinguished career as an administrator, umpire, player and coach.	Having represented New South Wales and Australia playing Indoor hockey, the 2010 Judy Laing Medallist has taken on the task of coaching the next generation of state and national champions. His love of indoor hockey knows no bounds. The coach of the NSW Open Men’s Indoor team that won the 2010 Australian Open Indoor Championships was subsequently appointed as the Australian Men’s Indoor Team coach (his eighth year), this year’s winner has been instrumental in driving development and performance opportunities for indoor players in NSW, recognising the growing role that indoor hockey has both at locally and at state level, in developing world‐class hockey players.

At the Women’s Australian Hockey League held in Perth early in April this year, Moorebank had six past and present players representing in three different State teams. Five Moorebank players from last season’s winning Division 1 team excelled at the AHL.

Rebecca Sanders, Toni Cronk, Airlie Ogilvie and Emily Hurtz all heavily contributed to the success of the NSW Arrows team at the Championship. At the completion of the round matches NSW, QLD and WA were all tied at the top after only each losing one game during the preliminary rounds. NSW played QLD in the semi final and after a very torrid and exciting game – QLD ran out winners scoring with 1 minute remaining in the second period of extra time to win 1 nil.

Both Rebecca and Toni excelled in defence and were both rewarded with being selected in the Australian Olympic Squad. Airlie has been selected in the Australian Development team.

Lyndal Ogilvie starred for the ACT Strikers, after finishing fourth at the completion of the preliminary rounds, ACT played WA in the semi finals. This game also went to extra time with WA finally winning 4-3 after ACT lead 2 nil for most of the first half. In the consolation final ACT dominated a flat NSW Arrows outfit, Lyndal repeatedly repelled the NSW attacker’s shots with ACT running out deserving winners 2 nil.

Jill Morrison made her AHL debut with Northern Territory. The team was competitive and achieve many excellent results, losing only 3 -1 to NSW and recording their biggest winning margin by defeating Tasmania 5 -1. Jill played well in defence and although moving to the unaccustomed centre half position in some games enjoyed and learned for the experience.

Lyndal, Airlie and Jill will again play with the strong Moorebank Div 1 team in 2008, due to her commitments with the Australian team – Rebecca Sanders will be living in Perth for the year and Emily Hurtz has left to take up a scholarship with Sydney University. At the Men’s Australian Hockey League held in Canberra during March, Moorebank was represented by Nathan Gilbert and Brett Morrison. Both players played well and contributed to the teams success.
